Look, we get it - nobody actually enjoys reading privacy policies. But here's the deal: at Pyrion Veilcrest Fitness, we're not just about pushing you to your limits on the mountain, we're also serious about protecting your personal info. This isn't one of those generic legal documents full of corporate speak. We've tried to keep things straightforward and honest.
When you train with us, whether you're doing altitude simulation or just booking a personal training session, we collect some information about you. This policy explains what we grab, why we need it, and what we do with it. We're based in North Vancouver, BC, which means we follow Canadian privacy laws, including PIPEDA (that's the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, if you're curious).
Bottom line? We're not selling your data to random companies or spamming you with junk. We use your info to help you train better, keep our facility running smoothly, and occasionally send you useful updates about programs you might actually care about.
When you sign up for a membership or book a session, we'll ask for the basics: your name, email, phone number, and address. We also need your birth date to make sure you're old enough to train here and to send you birthday discounts (yeah, we do that).
If you're filling out our Athletic Performance Assessment, we'll also collect info about your fitness level, training history, injuries, and goals. This isn't us being nosy - our coaches actually need this stuff to design programs that won't wreck you.
High-altitude training isn't a joke, and we need to know if you've got any medical conditions that could be affected by our programs. We'll ask about cardiovascular issues, respiratory problems, medications you're taking, past injuries - that sort of thing.
This information is confidential and only shared with trainers who're directly working with you. We're not doctors, but we work closely with medical professionals when needed, and we'll always get your permission before sharing health info with anyone else.
We need to get paid, obviously. When you purchase a membership or pay for services, we collect payment card details, billing address, and transaction history. Here's the thing though - we don't actually store your full credit card numbers on our servers.
We use encrypted payment processors that handle the sensitive stuff. We only keep the last four digits and the expiration date so we can help you if there's a billing issue.
When you use our website or member portal, we automatically collect some technical info like your IP address, browser type, device info, and which pages you visit. This helps us figure out what's working and what needs fixing.
If you use our facility, we track things like check-in times, which classes you attend, and how often you show up. This helps us plan better schedules and understand what programs people actually want.
Alright, so here's what we actually do with all that info:
We're not using your data for anything sketchy or unrelated to your training. If we ever want to use it for something new, we'll ask for your permission first.
We're pretty protective of your info, but there are a few situations where we share it:
Payment processors, email marketing platforms, and scheduling software. These companies are contractually obligated to protect your data and can only use it for the services they provide us.
If you're working with a physiotherapist, sports medicine doc, or nutritionist as part of your training, we might share relevant info with them - but only with your explicit consent.
If we're legally required to disclose information (court orders, government requests, etc.), we'll comply. But we'll fight overreaching requests and notify you when legally possible.
If there's a medical emergency, we'll share your health information with paramedics or hospital staff. Your safety comes first.
We do NOT sell your personal information to third parties. Period. We're not in the business of data brokering - we're in the business of making you a better athlete.
Security's a big deal for us. Here's what we do to keep your information safe:
That said, no system is 100% bulletproof. We do our best, but if there's ever a data breach, we'll notify you promptly and tell you exactly what happened and what we're doing about it.
Under Canadian privacy law, you've got several rights when it comes to your personal information. Here's what you can do:
You can request a copy of all the personal information we have about you. We'll provide it in a readable format within 30 days.
If any of your info is wrong or outdated, let us know and we'll fix it. Keeping your data accurate helps us serve you better.
You can request deletion of your personal information. We'll comply unless we're legally required to keep it (like tax records).
Don't want promotional emails? No problem. There's an unsubscribe link in every marketing email we send.
If you've given us permission to use your data for something specific, you can withdraw that consent anytime.
If you think we've mishandled your data, you can complain to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. We'd prefer you talk to us first though.
To exercise any of these rights, just shoot us an email at info@pyrionveilcrest.info or give us a call at (604) 555-7829. We'll respond within 30 days.
Our programs are designed for adults and young athletes who're at least 16 years old. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 without parental consent.
If you're under 16 and want to train with us, we'll need a parent or guardian to sign off on everything and provide consent for us to collect and use your information. Parents can review, update, or request deletion of their child's data at any time.
If we discover we've accidentally collected data from someone under 16 without proper consent, we'll delete it immediately. If you think we've got information about a minor that we shouldn't have, let us know right away.
We'll update this privacy policy from time to time as our practices evolve or laws change. When we make significant changes, we'll let you know by:
For minor tweaks like fixing typos or clarifying wording, we'll just update the policy and change the date. We recommend checking this page occasionally to stay informed about how we're protecting your information.
